Hellooo again, my avid video gamers!
What's good?
SO, modding.
Modding servers in Call of Duty: MW2 makes the game so much better. Yes, I mod, and I've got to say I've made SO many people happy because I mod. A lot of people put down modding games, and I really don't see why! Some people even go as far as calling it hacking. It is NOT hacking! It's just doing stuff that the developers couldn't think of. I know that there is a rule saying that modding isn't allowed, but hey; rules are meant to be broken, eh? And for you guys who don't like modding, don't play it; just quit!
Modding can be a lot of things; it can be mods where the enemies are zombies and you're trying not to get eaten, etc. Overall, it is VERY fun.
If we get up to 500 views per day, we'll start doing Apple give a ways, such as iPods, apple TV's, etc. If we get MORE than that, we might start giving away bigger things, like computers and stuff.
Thanks!
Peach out,
Justin
It is hacking. It doesn't matter if you think it's good, you are changing the game illegally.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's a good reason for making rules against modding, you are adding your ideas to the server that the company pays for, and slowing it down.
Slowing it down? I disagree with that. If you've ever played the game, you would notice that most of the time when you press play, choose your mode, etc. you get in a round in less than 10 seconds (If you have a good connection). So it hasn't slowed the game at all.
ReplyDeletewow
ReplyDeletelower standards
gotta luv that
Lower standards?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter, you have no right to be putting anything on their server. As for the "slowing it down" comment, it's hypothetical. Also, they pay for their server to run that fast, and the more crap that people spam it with, the more space they have to buy.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I dislike mods, but you really should buy your own server, like what they did with Halo Custom Edition.
that was directed towards the second comment.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would; I'm serious, I would! But they don't LET me buy a server because they're gay. I bought a server on BFBC2 for a couple months just so I could play and have space every day! It didn't work out 'cause no one joined, but thats not the point :P
ReplyDeleteAnd all we're doing is becoming the host of the game; it doesn't slow down the servers, because the mods run off my computer; we don't store anything on their server, so it should be just fine.
Your rerouting people through there server to your non-endorsed one. Essentially, the server is there to support the people on their game, not on your's, which is why they don't want you modding.
ReplyDeleteBut as I said, I don't have a problem with it. I like playing on mods, but I understand why the game makers don't want it and why it is, in fact, hacking.
When we mod, we don't use our servers; we use Infinishit wards servers just like usual people would; its just we edit the script of the game. It does nothing to the server to slow it down.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it actually is hacking; I was making a joke.
Well you could have fooled me.
ReplyDeleteIf people are using their game to connect to your mod. they use the servers to connect to you, which are made for endorsed maps, not yours.
When we mod, we don't actually change the maps; we just put stuff in like unlimited ammo, or no aiming allowed, or it gives your random weapons, etc.
ReplyDeleteI know, but the company hosts the amount of matches that it wants to, and you're forcing it to host one more, which is why they don't like it. It's like taking one pack of paper clips from a walmart, it may be insignificant, but they can't just open up their doors and let everyone take them (not a perfect example, but still).
ReplyDeleteNot exactly; I'm usually host anyways so it spear really make a difference. Although I suppose it would if the host has horrible internet
ReplyDeleteThey are using the company's servers to connect to your computer.
ReplyDeleteWhich would happen anyways.
ReplyDeleteI know, but they don't mind that because its what they're there for. They don't want to support your game.
ReplyDeleteThat's true. I never said that they DID want to support it.
ReplyDeleteWell, you kinda did indirectly by arguing with me this whole time.
ReplyDeleteI said several times that I like mods, but the game makers have a good reason for not liking your mod.
It doesn't matter if it is slowing them down significantly, but they have to pay to support that servers. They do it because that was part of the game you bought, however they never guarantied that they'd host the modes/maps/games that you made.
For instance, the more people they support on their server, the more it costs. You might, however, argue that they would be on another map instead and that they'd have to host just as many people. The thing is, that they're out to make money, and they only run the servers because they have to in order to get people to buy their game, and they shouldn't have to support your match as well.
Nope, I never once stated that they did want to support it. If it was indirectly, that wasn't my intention. And just because I host a match, doesn't mean that people will come online and play, hence taking up server space.
ReplyDeleteOk, I take that back; when I play, most of my friends come online to spam me with messages asking if I'm playing or not, but that isn't usually the case.
So you have answered your own question, the company does not like hacking because they don't want to support it.
